Laser Hair Removal

We remove unwanted hair on areas such as the face, upper lip, neck, chest, breasts, underarms, back, abdomen, bikini line and legs.

Laser light is used for laser hair removal at Sunshine Aesthetics. The light beam energy is used to destroy the hair follicles without significant impact on the surface of your skin. It is effective on all skin types and results in minimal redness and no downtime. Because of the cyclical nature of hair growth, a series of treatment over several months delivers the best results. After a consultation with the physician, a treatment plan will be developed taking into consideration the area to be treated as well as your skin type. With this information, the most suitable device for hair removal can be selected for best results. All treatments are performed by our licensed physicians.

Frequently Asked Questions

Laser treatments are suitable for men and women with dark hair, and our laser machines treat all skin types, including darker skin types. Laser hair removal is an excellent option for people who have medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or hirsutism. We also have many clients with religious beliefs and cultural traditions and people transitioning to being transgender.

It depends on what area of the body and what type of hair you are treating. If you have very thick, coarse hair, you can see up to 85- 90% reduction in hair growth. Someone with fine hair will only see a reduction of approximately 45- 60%. Remember, treating the face area typically requires more treatments because older females tend to grow new and denser facial hairs with hormonal changes, the natural ageing process or as a side effect of medications.

Laser hair removal can be done anywhere on the body and is popular on specific body parts. Both males and females get full body laser hair removal, including the genital areas.

What Is The Difference Between IPL Hair Removal & Laser Hair Removal?

IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light. You must understand that IPL’s are not lasers. IPL uses a broad spectrum of wavelengths, like a light bulb. The beam of light is not focused and disperses in different directions; therefore, only a small percentage is effectively absorbed by the hair follicle during treatment, producing minimal hair destruction.

IPL hair removal is only suitable up to skin type 3, and there is a high risk of burns associated with skin types 4-6 as they have more melanin in the skin. The IPL light disperses, which can cause burns on the skin.

A Laser is more effective than IPL as the light emitted from the laser is of one wavelength, which allows for deeper penetration and targets the hair follicle and does not cause damage to surrounding tissues. The laser we use at Sunshine Aesthetics is effective on all skin types and hair types.
